Article on Jewish School of the Arts

The Jewish School of the Arts is proud to be the premier Jewish school in the Northern Central Palm Beaches. Since opening its doors in 1987, the school has established a program that enhances each child's development through a curriculum that integrates the secular and Judaic experiences.

Serving boys and girls ages 6 weeks to 13 years, we offer small classes with low teacher to student ratios. Our modern, state of the art facility is equipped with the most educationally sound early childhood materials. While attending the Jewish School of the Arts your child will receive an education rich in Jewish traditions, integrated with a developmentally appropriate secular curriculum.

Our flexible scheduling allows parents to enroll for days and times that are suitable for their own family needs. Children need not be toilet trained to attend.

PHILOSOSPHY

The Jewish School of the Arts welcomes every Jewish child regardless of background or affiliation. We believe each child learns best in an environment that is rich in hands on experiences. We provide for the physical, intellectual and emotional growth of the children through activities that are child directed and teacher guided. Children are encouraged to use their senses to explore, experiment and use their imagination to the fullest. Through dramatic play, visual aides, manipulatives and the use of centers within the classroom such as art, science, blocks, math and literacy, children gain readiness skills for future learning. Our staff works closely with each child to help develop their self-esteem through problem solving, encouraging self-expression and offering positive reinforcement. If you are looking for an outstanding preschool for your child we invite you to join the Jewish School of the Arts.

STAFF

Our staff is carefully selected based upon their education, credentials and experience. Our staff is warm, nurturing and loving. They recognize each child as an individual and strive to meet their unique needs. Our teachers delight in the children and provide them with the greatest gift of all, a love of learning.

ATMOSPHERE

Our classes are held in a warm and friendly environment that fosters learning and creative expression. In our program, we utilize an extensive supply of early childhood toys, games, and an array of manipulatives to give our children the hands-on experiences that they need to expand their imagination as well as to develop their motor skills. Our two outside play areas are designed and equipped to challenge and entertain children safely.

OVERVIEW

The Jewish School of the Arts
For ages six weeks to13 years

Here at the JSA-Jewish School of the Arts,  a child of six weeks or more can receive care in a warm and loving environment under the guidance of qualified, competent and licensed teachers. The caring for each child, as expressed by our philosophies, has ingrained the children with a deep self esteem, thus ensuring them a healthy and stable tomorrow. Programs geared to and tailored for each and every child are of the highest priority.

Dedication to the refinement of the mind and spirit has always been the hallmark of the Jewish way of living. The ever present demand for excellence both in scholarship and social consciousness dates to the very beginning of our Jewish heritage. The perpetuation of high principles and ideals as a people is guaranteed through, and is directly related to, the degree of support given to educational institutions.

We are constantly in tune with our growing and changing world. Yes, we are traditional, and we do value the advances of Science and Education.

Our educational goals are based on development and achievement, mostly through informal learning. They will work with games, work jobs, and all kinds of materials and objects. We never push a child to read, write, learn or do something they can not. On the other hand when a child is ready for more complex learning, the materials and teachers are always available for the child, and we will encourage it. We want each child to feel good about learning and have a good self image. Pushing can only impede and interfere with their accomplishments and achievements. Before a child can master reading, writing, and math we want to make sure he has had sufficient skills to do so. We believe that once a child has the skills, reading, writing and math is more easily learned.

Your child’s first school experience can set the tone for life. That is why the Jewish School of the Arts makes learning fun. Our children’s Center follows the developmental approach through special activities in six main categories

Fine motor
Gross motor
Self care
Social and Emotional Behavior
Intellectual development
Language development.

and more.

We love Children.

That is why we educate them in this way!

True discipline is aimed at building up within the child what we call a conscience. This is the self discipline which will one day keep him doing what he should and behaving as he ought, even when there is nobody to tell him what to do or notice if he does wrong.
* Our teachers set an example
We make sure that good behavior gets rewarded
We are positive “Do, works better than Don’t”
We tell your child why. Without a reason, s/he cannot fit a particular instruction into the general pattern of “how to behave”, that s/he is building up in his own mind.
We trust your child to mean well. If your child feels that we are always standing over him/her, ready to correct or instruct him/her, s/he will probably not bother to think very much about what he ought or ought not to do.
We try to make him feel that we trust him to handle it.
We are consistent
We try to avoid problems, in the first place.
